Welcome to When AI Touches Grass:
AI for the Rest of Us
There are two types of AI content on the internet right now: hyper-technical developer jargon that requires a computer science degree to understand, and over-hyped productivity gurus telling you to generate 5,000 bad LinkedIn posts before breakfast.
We built When AI Touches Grass because we were tired of both.
AI is changing how we work, shop, design, and live, but only if you pull it out of the theoretical clouds and make it work for your actual, day-to-day life. That’s our entire mission: grounded, practical, lazy-smart workflows that save you mental energy so you can close your computer and actually go outside.
Grounded tech conversations for everyday life
Meet your hosts
Every week, we look at technology through two distinct, complementary lenses:
| Host | The Perspective | The Superpower |
|---|---|---|
| Macy Brink | Creative Builder & Vibe Coder: Leans into all things creative with AI—vibe coding, building apps, exploring generative design, and pushing the boundaries of what non-traditional builders can make. | Turning abstract creative sparks and "what if" ideas into working apps and tangible projects at lightning speed. |
| Lacey Duncan (that's me) | Systems Builder: Tests the prompts, builds custom skills, creates context files, and turns chaotic AI features into reusable workflows. | Turning 3-hour tedious tasks into 5-minute automated conversations. |
Together, we sit right between the curiosity of “What can this thing actually do?” and the pragmatic reality of “Will this actually save me time or just give me a headache?”
What "Touching Grass" Means to Us
The phrase “touch grass” usually gets thrown around as a joke when someone has spent way too much time online. But for us, it’s a design philosophy:
If a new tool or workflow doesn't save measurable time, reduce friction, or solve a genuine frustration, we don't recommend it. No novelty for novelty's sake.
Build high-leverage systems once—like custom context files and skill prompts—so you never have to start from scratch or fight generic outputs again.
Technology should serve your life, not consume it. We automate the digital busywork so you can shut your laptop and spend time in the real world.
